EXPERIENCE
Personal Project - Recently completed the design and development of the website that is serving the page you are currently viewing using 100% open-source technology. This website is a study and test simulator environment designed to facilitate preparation for the PMP® Certification exam. It also includes a full-featured Discussion Forum. The website utilizes multiple Java Servlets, JSPs, Custom Tag Libraries, Templates, JavaScript and JavaMail. Communications with mySQL RDBMS is via JDBC. Currently hosting website with Apache Tomcat on RedHat Linux 9.
SHORT-TERM CONTRACTS AND CONSULTING
2002 ~ Present
State Dept. Health and Human Services - Responsible for delivery of Internet-Based Application to all hospitals in the state to track hearing and sickle cell screening of all new-borns.
Responsibilities included development of a web application to specifications with end-user customer interaction as required. Upon deployment to production, the application enabled participating hospitals to enter data into a centralized database so state consultents could access patient data which enabled them to perform followup work as required.
Environment: Java 1.4, J2EE, Eclipse, Ant, XDoclet, Struts, JSTL, Weblogic 8, SQL Server, Windows NT.
State Dept. Environmental & Natural Resources - Responsible for delivery of Internet-Based Enterprise Applications to various divisions within the department.
Responsibilities include development of Permitting, Corrective Action, and Case Management Internet-based applications for State Department of Hazardous Waste.
Design and development of data translation utility that extracted key information from database, converted to flat file format for transmission to Environmental Protection Agency to meet critical requirement of EPA. Also served as project coordinator to client to ensure customer satisfaction of deliverables and project time line and provided hands-on application training to users community with Dept. HW.
Environment: Java 1.3, J2EE, Eclipse, Ant, TOAD, Weblogic 7, Oracle 8, Windows NT.
State Dept. of Wildlife - Responsible for upgrade of existing Vessel Registration Renewal System website (written in Java and JSPs) due to change in Credit Card Processing System API (EJB). Also responsible for upgrade of Weblogic 5.1 to 6.1.
Environment: Java 1.3, J2EE, EJB, EditPlus, Weblogic 51./6.1, Windows NT.
Bio Tech Company - Extreme Programming (paired programming) environment. Mentored department head on application of Java Servlet and JSP technologies from an MVC2 perspective as well as configuration of Apache Tomcat on Secure Socket Layer to facilitate and enable development of commercial website product for their customers.
Environment: Java 1.3, J2EE, Eclipse, Ant, Tomcat, Windows NT.
Custom Software Development Firm - High-visibility responsibility to maintain distributed web application utilizing J2EE, EJB, RMI, and WebLogic and Oracle for a major over night shipping company. Project was built and packaged via Ant. Required to understand front-end to back-end of application architecture and modify component parts as necessary. Also maintained and enhanced the Metadata Editor, a desktop application tool (J2EE and swing) that allowed users to create / modify XML representations of business object metadata for reports generated by the application mentioned above. Access to remote objects via RMI and WebLogic.
